On Generalized Sum Rules for Jacobi Matrices

This work is in a stream (see e.g. [4], [8], [10], [11], [7]) initiated by a paper of Killip and Simon [9], an earlier paper [5] also should be mentioned here. Using methods of Functional Analysis and the classical Szegö Theorem we prove sum rule identities in a very general form. Then, we apply the result to obtain new asymptotics for orthonormal polynomials.

On the entry sum of cyclotomic arrays

A cyclotomic array is an array of numbers that can be written as a linear combination of lines of 1’s running parallel to the coordinate axes and running the full length of the array. Figure 1 shows for example a 2-dimensional cyclotomic array of size 3× 4 and how it is obtained as a linear combination of lines of 1’s. Figure 2 shows a similar example of a 3-dimensional cyclotomic array. The pu...

A Two-parameter Generalized Skew-Cauchy Distribution

In this paper, we discuss a new generalization of univariate skew-Cauchy distribution with two parameters, we denoted this by GSC(&lambda1, &lambda2), that it has more flexible than the skew-Cauchy distribution (denoted by SC(&lambda)), introduced by Behboodian et al. (2006). Furthermore, we establish some useful properties of this distribution and by two numerical example, show that GSC(&lambd...

On trees and the multiplicative sum Zagreb index

For a graph $G$ with edge set $E(G)$, the multiplicative sum Zagreb index of $G$ is defined as$Pi^*(G)=Pi_{uvin E(G)}[d_G(u)+d_G(v)]$, where $d_G(v)$ is the degree of vertex $v$ in $G$.In this paper, we first introduce some graph transformations that decreasethis index. In application, we identify the fourteen class of trees, with the first through fourteenth smallest multiplicative sum Zagreb ...

Jacobi Sum Matrices

In this article we identify several beautiful properties of Jacobi sums that become evident when these numbers are organized as a matrix and studied via the tools of linear algebra. In the process we reconsider a convention employed in computing Jacobi sum values by illustrating how these properties become less elegant or disappear entirely when the standard definition for Jacobi sums is utiliz...
